Welp! The above photo just kind of says it all, doesn’t it? Our home here in Chico is in escrow. Our future home (and reindeer farm!) in Goldendale is also in escrow. We still have a million things to do, but for now, we take it one day at a time. Next comes what I think will be the hardest part of all: saying goodbye to the place that holds 25 years of memories for me. I raised babies here, became a paramedic and now a nurse, got divorced and remarried, had a visit from a swat team (read about that here), and formed a web of beautiful friendships. Chico, and my experiences here, have helped me to become who I am today. As much as I’ve prayed for this next chapter, I am now realizing that closing the current one won’t be an easy task. How blessed I am that this part is so difficult.
Three years ago this month, Daniel and I visited the Columbia River Gorge. The area really resonated with me and I was so saddened when a couple days after we left, the Eagle Creek Fire erupted and destroyed much of the area. I remember feeling a special connection with the Gorge. Who knew we’d be planning a move here, just three years after that visit?
It’s amazing where the paths lead us if we are willing to be brave and explore them. I don’t know exactly what will happen from here, but I do know that we won’t be saying, ‘what if…..?’
